1 Kings Chapter 2

Part 3 of the series in 1 and 2 Kings.  David's last words to Solomon and Solomon's first actions as king - a combination of godly wisdom that envisages a king as a model subject to God's law and human 'wisdom' that holds grudges and takes revenge.

1 Kings Chapter 1 verses 5 to 53

Part 2 of the series in 1 and 2 Kings.  Adonijah, David's eldest remaining son, tries to make himself king in place of his father, but his plan is foiled by the quick actions of Bathsheba (mother of Solomon) and the prophet Nathan so that Solomon is confirmed as David's successor.
